نور لا ينطفي

تكريمٌ للّواء خالد محمد علي الياسين (١٩٤١ – ٢٠٢٠)، رائدِ الإطفاء في الكويت وأولِ كويتيٍّ يحملُ رتبةَ لواءٍ في الإطفاء. أربعون عاماً وهو يركضُ نحو النار ليحميَ وطنَه، تدرّبَ في بريطانيا وعادَ ليبنيَ الإطفاءَ الحديث. قادَ رجالَه في غزوِ التسعين، حين حملوا الماءَ للأهل وواروا الشهداء وأخفوا المقاومة، وارتقى خمسةٌ من رجالِه شهداء، وأطفأوا ألفينِ وأحدَ عشرَ حريقاً تحت الاحتلال، ثم وقفوا مع العالم لإخماد أكثرِ من سبعمئةِ بئرٍ أحرقها الغزاة. بنى قانونَ الإطفاء ورفعَ رجالَه، وكان لهم "الأبَ الروحي". رحلَ في الخامسِ والعشرين من يوليو ٢٠٢٠، وبقيت ناره ضوءاً في قلبِ كلِّ إطفائيٍّ ربّاه.

A tribute to Major General Khalid Muhammad Ali Al-Yaseen (1941–2020), Kuwait's fire pioneer and the first Kuwaiti to hold the rank of Major General in the fire service. For forty years he ran toward the fire to protect his country; British-trained, he came home to build the modern fire force. He led his men through the 1990 invasion , carrying water to families, burying the dead, sheltering the resistance , losing five firefighters as martyrs and fighting 2,011 fires under occupation, then standing with the world to extinguish the 700+ oil wells the invaders torched. He built the fire law, raised the dignity of his men, and became their "spiritual father." He passed on 25 July 2020, and the fire he carried as light still burns in every firefighter he raised.
