لأب الروحي للمخرّبين

محمد مبارك الفجي، أبو خالد. رجل أعمال كويتي ملك أربعة آلاف شاحنة، ودعم العراق في حربه من قناعة قومية حتى صار صديقاً مقرّباً لصدّام. لكن حين ابتلع صدّام الكويت في الثاني من أغسطس 1990، اختار الفجي وطنه على صديقه، وقاد المقاومة الكويتية: هرّب رموز الشرعية، وجمع السلاح، وأسقطت مجموعته طائرة تقلّ ضباطاً عراقيين ومحافظ صدّام على الكويت، وأسروا ضباطاً يحملون مخطّطات تلغيم آبار النفط فسلّموها للتحالف. وصفه صدّام بالأب الروحي وزعيم المخرّبين، واعتُقل وحُكم عليه بالإعدام على بُعد أيام من التحرير. وبعد الحرب أنفق ثروته بحثاً عن أسرى الكويت. الوطن أبقى من كل صداقة.

Mohammed Mubarak Al-Fajji, "Abu Khaled." A Kuwaiti transport magnate with 4,000 trucks who bankrolled Saddam's war out of pan-Arab conviction and became his close friend. But when Saddam swallowed Kuwait on August 2, 1990, Al-Fajji chose his homeland over his friend and led the Kuwaiti resistance , smuggling out the legitimacy, gathering weapons, downing an Iraqi aircraft carrying officers and Saddam's appointed governor, and capturing officers who carried the plans to rig Kuwait's oil wells for demolition, handing them to the coalition. Saddam branded him "the spiritual father and leader of the saboteurs," and he was sentenced to death , days from the noose when liberation came. After the war he spent his fortune searching for Kuwait's missing. The homeland outlasts every friendship.
