صِناعة الولاء لطهران

رجلٌ عراقيٌّ يجلسُ في عتمة بيته ويشغّلُ التلفاز، فتُعرَضُ على الشاشة حكايةٌ تحدثُ في العراق كل يوم. في العراق تُخنقُ جامعاتُ الوطن بألفِ شرطٍ حتى ييأس الطالب، فيُدفعُ إلى جامعاتٍ في إيران ولبنان، كثيرٌ منها في فلكِ الحرس الثوريّ وحزب الله، حيث المعادلةُ بسيطة، ادفع تنجح، فتخرجُ بعقلٍ فارغٍ وشهادةٍ لامعة. نحو سبعةٍ وعشرين ألف عراقيٍّ اشتروا شهاداتٍ لبنانية بمعدّل خمسةِ آلافِ دولارٍ للماجستير وعشرةِ آلافٍ للدكتوراه، والجامعةُ الإسلامية، ذراعُ حزب الله، باعت شهاداتها لألفٍ وأربعمئةِ نائبٍ عراقيّ، حتى صارت بيروتُ مغسلةَ الشهادات. أما إيرانُ فتستقبلُ أكثرَ من عشرينَ ألفَ طالبٍ عراقيٍّ كلَّ عام، وشهاداتُها مزوّرةٌ بنسبةٍ تناهزُ تسعةً وتسعين بالمئة. والأخطرُ أنّ العراقَ يُستنزَف، تُسحَبُ عقولُه وأمواله إلى الخارج، ويعودُ بدلاً منها موالونَ جوفاءُ مَدينونَ بولائهم، يُغرَسونَ في مفاصلِ الدولة، وقد يقفُ أحدُهم فوقَ رأسك في غرفة العمليات. ثم تنطفئُ الشاشة، لكنّ هذه ليست مسلسلاً. عقلُ العراق يُفرَّغ، ودولارُه يطيرُ إلى طهران وبيروت، والجهلُ والخرابُ يبقيانِ في العراق.

An Iraqi man sits in his dark home and turns on the TV, and what plays on the screen is a story that happens in Iraq every day. Iraq's own universities strangle their students with a thousand conditions until they despair and are pushed abroad, to universities in Iran and Lebanon, many in the orbit of the Revolutionary Guard and Hezbollah, where the equation is simple, pay and you pass, and you come out with an empty mind and a shiny paper. Around 27,000 Iraqis bought Lebanese degrees at roughly $5,000 a master's and $10,000 a PhD, and the Islamic University of Lebanon, an arm of Hezbollah, sold degrees to 1,436 Iraqi MPs, until Beirut became the "laundering hub." Iran takes in more than 20,000 Iraqi students a year with a forgery rate near 99 percent. And the gravest part is that Iraq is being drained, its minds and money siphoned abroad, and what returns instead are hollow loyalists, indebted by loyalty, planted in the joints of the state, and one of them may stand over you in an operating room. Then the screen goes black, but this is no TV series. Iraq's mind is emptied, its dollars fly to Tehran and Beirut, and the ignorance and ruin stay in Iraq.
