المالُ المدفون

في العراق، يُدفن المال على عمق أربعة أمتار، ويُحرق في التنّور. بدأت القصة باعتقال وكيل وزارة النفط عدنان الجميلي بتهم تضخيم العقود وتهريب النفط، وعرضه رشوةً بمئتي مليون دولار لإغلاق ملفّه. قادت اعترافاته إلى كنزٍ مدفون استُخرج بالحفّارات: عشرات الملايين نقداً، ومليارات بالدينار، وذهبٌ وعقارات، وتنقل الصحف أن زوجة أحد المتهمين أحرقت الملايين في تنّور. واليوم اقتحم جهاز مكافحة الإرهاب المنطقة الخضراء بأمر رئيس الوزراء الزيدي واعتقل سبعةً وأربعين من النواب والمسؤولين ورجال الأعمال. والمنهوب منذ 2003 تقدّره جهاتٌ بنحو 350 مليار دولار، بينما العراقي في الظلام. فهل يصمد القرار، أم يُدفن كما دُفن المال؟

In Iraq, money is buried four meters underground and burned in a clay oven. It started with the arrest of Oil Ministry undersecretary Adnan al-Jumaili on charges of inflating contracts and smuggling oil, and his offer of a $200 million bribe to bury his file. His confessions led to a buried treasure dug out with excavators: tens of millions in cash, billions in dinars, gold and properties , and the press reports a suspect's wife burned millions in a clay oven. Today the Counter-Terrorism Service stormed the Green Zone on PM al-Zaidi's order and arrested MPs and officials. An estimated $350 billion has been smuggled out of Iraq since 2003 , while Iraqis sit in the dark. Will the decision hold, or be buried like the money?
